Here is my cruise report...

Just to let you know that I have just got back from my first cruise as a Port Enhancement Lecturer. On Friday the 6th of August I drove up to Mark's place in Dulwich. We had a walk around lovely Dulwich Village that afternoon. On the Saturday we drove up to Scotland via the Blackwall Tunnel, M11, A1, A66 and M74 in about 9 hours. Ruth & Steve entertained us in Milngavie (Mil'guy) with a splendid alfresco meal under a glorious sunset (see picture above). On the Sunday we drove over the Kincardine Bridge to pick up the Boudicca at Rosyth ferry port.

On the first sea day I gave my first lecture entitled "Welcome to Norway!" I was a tour escort four times all with a transport theme: The Atlantic Highway is a magnificent white elephant. The Rauma Railway is positively alpine in construction, travelling past the 1066m sheer cliff of the Trollveggen. The vintage tram in Trondheim (Tron'yem) was fun in the sun, whilst the lake cruise on Loenvatn was glorious (see picture above).

No tour in a rainy Bergen so we purchased Bergen Cards. This included the Furnicular Railway, the brand new Trams and the 5 art galleries. I also trudged through 4 more museums and the fortress! So I certainly got my value from the card. On the afternoon of Trondheim I gave my second lecture on "Olden & Bergen", and that evening I led the Western Night participation line dancing as usual. The drive south on the final Sunday via the A702, M74, M6 Toll and M40 only took 8 hours. I stayed the night in Dulwich before driving back to BoMo on the Monday having driven 1156 miles in total!

The Cruise Director wrote "Martin is also an experienced speaker and his talks have been OK."

For the record ...
