Here's my report on the cruise:

Just to let you know that I'm back from my first cruise on the Black Watch (BW) to the Adriatic.

The captain arranged several super star gazing sessions with the aid of his laser pointer.

   I visited:

In Ravenna I headed first to see the truly magnificent mosaics of Justinian & Theodora. After the Cathedral & Baptistery I visited the basilica of San Apollinare Nuovo. Here I marvelled at the huge mosaics of the procession of martyrs headed by St. Martin and the procession of the 22 virgins! I now want to go back and see the mosaics in the Archbishop's chapel and in the basilica of San Apollinare at Classe which I missed.

The ballroom/latin dance instructors were the lovely Julie & Michael Bilton from Northampton.

I shared a cabin with the amusing Ron Broome from Portsmouth. The other two hosts, John Molloy & Marvin Ford, hardly spoke to one another!

I ran several line dance classes and led the audience participation spot on the Western night. I finally managed to get my trading name (Doc. Martin) into the daily programmes!

Black Watch (originally the Royal Viking Star) is better than her sister ship Boudicca (originally the Royal Viking Sky) for several reasons:

However I still prefer the Balmoral & the Braemar!
